Making Better Video Calls!

A note about links.

I’ve spoken a bit in the past about how to make your (sometimes unexpected!) remote work environment work for you. Whether it’s setting up anywhere that you can find a place — be it your kitchen table, your sofa, and for those lucky few, an actual dedicated home office — having a place where you can get into the work mindset and be able to focus is key to maintaining a productive day. 🙂

So, what do you do once you’re there? These days, you’re probably going to spend a lot of time in front of a camera, right? As video interface platforms become more and more important, you’re seeing the inside of everyone’s home and — sometimes the inside of their noses — when they have a less than ideal set up.

Earlier this week I gave my quickest possible set of recommendations for how to step up your video call game (spoiler: it’s not combing your hair, though probably that too!). I’m here now to give you a much more expanded set of recommendations . . . and there’s even a video to demonstrate these suggestions!

The Taste of Eeeeeevil

As I discovered with my cool little Superman Phone Case adventure (TM), projects can be fun.

I’m guessing they’re even more fun when alcohol is fundamental to the entire thing, however.

Kendra and I have a party to go to this weekend, and the theme for most of our friends’ parties is almost always “booze.” Now I approve of that theme, but we figured rather than just buy an ordinary old bottle of something from the local grocery store (and since we’re cheap and not going to buy something NICE), we figured we would do something interesting instead.

10 years of a single question

Doctor . . . Who . . . ?

I realize that the actual anniversary was a few days ago but you know me, I’m always late to the party.

In any case, when Doctor Who was first resurrected (regenerated?) 10 years ago, I was living in Scotland, finishing up work on my ^^incredibly useful^^ History degree. Naturally, the BBC ran a huge selection of previous seasons on the run up to the premier. I had never seen a single episode and so anyone who has watched that grand tradition of camp you will know that I was . . . well, I wasn’t as excited about meeting the new Doctor as everyone else was.
