Days . . .

Days . . .

40 more until I am winging my way with my family to Hawai’i. I’ve not been since I was about 4 years old. I don’t remember much except that I had the chicken pox while I was there. True story.

14 more until I’ll be winging my way BACK from CO. Not something I look forward to. Have I mentioned that I don’t much like flying? Like at all? Over a million moving or electric parts in an airplane. My toaster doesn’t make toast correctly on a regular basis. Why do I trust a plane again?

12 more until I dress up myself up as some sort of anachronistic peacock of a fop and along with Michael Turney unleash Archibald Bigglesworth, Duke of Paddington (“Archie”) and his cousin Reggie on the Colorado Renaissance Festival. They have NO idea what they’re in for.

7 more until I see my one of my oldest and closest friends. I’ve not seen Meggan since January and in the interim she went and got herself pregnant. I’ve always wondered what she would really be like in this state, and now I get to find out! During this time I might also get to see my other friend Kristan who, rumour has it, might be Stateside right now. Holy crap, it’s an orgy of reacquaintance!

6 more until I face one of my biggest fears. I’ve had reoccurring nightmares involving driving through the New Mexican desert and getting in a fatal car accident since I was about 15. In those dreams I’ve ALWAYS been 28. For the first time since turning 28, I’ll be driving through New Mexico. This is also the first time I’ve admitted this at all publicly. But hey, one has to face one’s fears . . . and if you’re not up front about it, what’s the point?

And finally, 5 more until my 10 year high school reunion! I’ll be attending with an old (and yes, male) friend of mine as a date. Since I was on the swim team and in drama, there was a stubborn rumour all through my very Mormon high school career that I was gay. Well, why not give them a bit of a shock now. Samme went to Mountain View but was a year behind. He always hung out with us though and is a dear friend so why not bring him? We’re also going with my cousin and his wife. We might even get a limo so we can all get nice and sloshed!

And that’s about me. Just thought I’d give a few things that I’m looking forward to in the coming weeks! Everyone wish me luck . . .

’bout half way done . . .

’bout half way done . . .

And the Shakespeare Marathon has been pretty AWESOME so far!! I must say that I’ve found myself doing a WHOLE lot more plays than I thought I’d be doing, and I know I’m not alone. My Mom found herself reading a part in “The Tempest” yesterday, random passer-bys have been pressed into reading, and Alanta, who came into this with plans to read only a minor part in a REALLY obscure play, has been reading A LOT, including the part of Ophelia in “Hamlet.”

For those that care, what I’m incredibly excited about (and would love for people to come watch) is a chance coming up on Monday at 3pm (I know, awkward timing) to read the part of Demetrius in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Many of you know that it’s my MOST favouritest play EVAR and so I was thrilled when I found out there was still a hole in the parts waiting to be filled. Yeah, Demetrius is a bit of a douche, but whatev. Speaking of which, yesterday I also played the part of Proteus in “The Two Gentlemen of Verona,” so I think I’m just kinda going for a theme these days. Amusingly enough, Alanta read for Julia in that play. We were fine with it, but talk about having the potential for cringe-worthiness!

So, yeah. Madness! I finally got some sleep last night after having been awake for about 48 hours straight (well, I napped for two sets of about 1.5 hours), and I feel great. I think I’m gonna seize the chance to watch Supernatural before heading back to Tempe Marketplace to lend moral support (and probably read some more). Once again, HEAD ON DOWN!! We love having people just show up.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, to those of you who HAVE just dropped by . . . you guys are AMAZING. You keep coming when I’ve got teeny parts and so I of course flub them, but I really appreciate you making the journey! 😀

Talk to you soon!

(cross-posted on LJ/, MySpace, Facebook)

I’ve not been blogging a lot recently and there are all sorts of reasons for that.  That’s neither here nor there however.  I have to say that there are a lot of things I’ve been waiting for, and one of them has finally arrived.

I am now a home owner!  I purchased a flat built by KB Homes in East Mesa and I closed escrow today.   It’s not terribly big, but certainly big enough for an unmarried, non-father male.  Unfortunately I’m not going to be moving in for another week however, as I am getting the interior painted (half the point of owning a place is getting rid of apartment-white walls!).

So anyway.  At some point in time I’m sure I’ll have a flat-warming party or three, but in the mean time I’m just gonna concentrate on rounding up all of my crap from the 4 or so different storage units that hold them all . . . Wish me luck!

Coolest thing I’ve seen today . . .

Which is not hard as I’ve just woken up, but nonetheless.

So you guys know what the Bayeux Tapestry is, right? Well in case you don’t, the short version is that in 1066 William the Bastard crossed the English Channel and defeated King Harold in the Battle of Hastings, thus forever changing the path of the British Monarchy. The Bayeux Tapestry tells the story of the preparations for that invasion and ends with the battle and King Harold being killed.

The following is an animated Bayeux Tapestry with sound effects and a soundtrack! It even has added in translations of the Latin inscriptions that are all over the place. For those concerned, yes “Carmina Burana” plays when the battle starts (what would a good Medieval battle be without “Carmina Burana?”), and Harold does indeed die with an arrow in the eye (rhyming intentional).

NOTE: I tried to get this stupid thing to embed, but WordPress didn’t apparently like that, so here’s the link straight to YouTube. Enjoy! Bayeux Tapestry

And there you have it! Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend.

Ah, Beltane.

Happiest of Beltane Greetings to my brothers and sisters who . . . well . . . know what I’m even talking about.

This day is a bittersweet one for me. It is one of the most important holidays to those who share similar beliefs to my own . . . a day to celebrate life, fertility, and all that is generally good in the world. And yet, it is also the day that my grandfather, Mel Elward, died two years ago. I will regret until the end the fact that I did not make it back from Glasgow in time to say goodbye. I was set to fly home the next day for just that purpose, but I was simply too late.

So I say again Happy Beltane to everyone out there, and at the same time, I miss you, Papa. We all do. I hope you are happy wherever you are . . .

It’s the name of the site!

So I have to always be putting up stuff related to Thermopylae, Sparta, and 300 in general.

So now for your viewing pleasure:

Funny, eh?

And in other news, I’ve applied for a supervisory position at GD. It’s not for the general floor but instead for a new department that we’re starting up that actually makes custom websites for the customers. I have NO IDEA if I have much of a chance, but here’s hoping nonetheless!

OK, OK . . .

So it’s been pointed out to me that I have failed to reveal the further news that I referenced in my last post. I am a bad bad man.

So what is my news? To answer that, I need to employ the use of visual aides: BAM! So my news is that I am finally joining the “grown up world” (ewwwwww) and have bought a condo. I’m not 100% sure how much the end price will be since I’m opting for some other add-ons, but rest assured it will be entirely more than I can afford!

So there is my amazing news. Seeing as it’s a new-build, I’m not gonna be in there until June at the earliest, but that’s OK because I can’t even imagine moving anywhere right now. ENTIRELY too busy! But very exciting nonetheless and I will DEFINITELY be accepting doughnations from anyone who EVER thinks they’re gonna be staying at my place! 😉

Take care folks,
